Lumora Talent Consulting is seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Director (Psychiatry) to provide psychiatric care, clinical leadership, and strategic oversight for a growing behavioral health organization serving children, adolescents, and adults. This role combines direct patient care with medical leadership responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric services through both in-person and telehealth modalities. The Medical Director collaborates closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, and community partners to enhance psychiatric service delivery, maintain regulatory compliance, and support positive outcomes for individuals with a wide range of behavioral health needs. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Patient Care Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, and comprehensive clinical assessments. Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications as clinically indicated. Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic findings as needed. Provide psychiatric services through both in-person and telehealth platforms. Deliver care to children, adolescents, and adults with mild, moderate, and severe behavioral health conditions. Evaluate and treat individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Medical Oversight & Program Development Provide clinical consultation and oversight to multidisciplinary treatment teams. Coordinate psychiatric service delivery across the organization. Participate in the Behavioral Treatment Committee (BTC) to review and approve behavioral treatment plans. Assist in developing and implementing psychiatric protocols, procedures, and best practices. Define and maintain psychiatric standards of care throughout the organization. Evaluate the quality, effectiveness, and appropriateness of psychiatric and medical services. Staff Leadership & Development Lead and facilitate meetings with psychiatric and medical staff to promote quality improvement and clinical excellence. Provide education, consultation, and in-service training to clinicians on psychiatric and behavioral health topics. Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding psychiatric staff. Supervise psychiatric providers, including nurse practitioners and psychiatric residents when applicable. Coordinate peer review activities and contribute to provider performance evaluations. Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational performance projects. Support compliance audits, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. Participate in root cause analyses, compliance meetings, and other quality assurance activities. Ensure adherence to ethical, professional, and clinical standards. Required Qualifications Education & Credentials Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan. Board Certification in Child Psychiatry. Ability to prescribe psychiatric medications. Experience Minimum of 5 years of psychiatric practice experience serving both child and adult populations. Experience providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Knowledge of or experience working within the Detroit/Wayne County Community Mental Health system preferred. Substance Abuse Certification preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Trauma-informed leadership and clinical practice. Demonstrated success working within complex behavioral health and psychiatric service delivery systems. Strong cultural competence and sensitivity when serving diverse populations. Ability to maintain the highest ethical and professional standards. Experience treating individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and dual diagnoses. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and telehealth technology platforms. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Additional Requirements Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation. Commitment to ongoing professional development through continuing education, conferences, and training programs. Ability to provide both onsite and telehealth services based on organizational and client needs. Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099) Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 20–30 hours per week , depending on client caseload and organizational needs. Service Delivery: Combination of in-person and telehealth services based on client requirements and agency contracts. Candidates must be able to maintain an independent contractor status and manage their professional responsibilities accordingly.
