Motor Vehicle Supervisor

Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office is seeking to hire a Motor Vehicle Supervisor. The Clerk and Recorder’s Office serves our community through three divisions: Motor Vehicle, Recorder, and Elections. The Motor Vehicle division focuses on titling, registering all vehicles in the county, and issuing disability placards. Our 45 team members work across Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette. We are looking for a Motor Vehicle Supervisor who ensures their staff has the knowledge, skills, and resources to provide excellent service. This role is critical for planning and day‑to‑day operations that ensure we deliver the best public service. Working Hours Monday – Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Location: 1750 33rd St., Boulder, CO 80301. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non‑exempt. Hiring Salary Range $52,488.00 – $64,086.00 annually. Location & Residency Boulder County, CO. Employees must reside in the state of Colorado as of their first day of work. Responsibilities Research, understand, and meet DOR legislative compliance and DRIVES rules. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the DRIVES (MV) system. Understand and follow BCCR policies and county guidelines. Utilize CR SharePoint for office policies and the county Personnel manual. Complete courses and certifications in compliance with Boulder County guidelines. Ensure confidentiality of public member information. Comply with all cyber security requirements, trainings, and procedures. Oversee day‑to‑day operations and work activities of the Motor Vehicle Branch. Assist public members with Motor Vehicle transactions (phone or counter). Monitor Qmatic for long wait lines and assist on the counter as needed. Create and implement staff scheduling (counter, breaks, lunch, special projects, etc.). Listen to public concerns, ideas, and initiate improvements. Provide enhancements to better serve the public. Consistently review services to ensure equity and inclusion. Work closely with staff and public to find solutions to problems. Find ways to say yes, within compliance. Direct problems to manager or MV Director when needed. Lead by example; live the core values of the Clerk and Recorder Office. Ensure staff have the knowledge, skills and resources to provide excellent service. Supervise 4 to 6 staff and ensure they meet performance metrics approved by MV Director. Provide timely feedback and conduct monthly feedback meetings and quarterly performance reviews. Develop strong partnerships with staff and celebrate successes. Participate in disciplinary situations by providing pertinent information and following all procedures. Track and report employee outputs. Foster an environment of teaming and problem‑solving. Assist in training new and existing staff on policies, processes, legislative updates, and procedures. Use a variety of training methods to meet all learning styles. Collaborate with new employees to ensure expectations are met upon completion of the new hire Certification. Demonstrate accurate knowledge of cash handling procedures and resolve complex problems relating to the Motor Vehicle Cashiering System. Complete daily deposit accurately and on time. Ensure team completes daily balancing accurately. Follow county protocol with use of P‑card, if applicable. Approve transactions following county rules and manager approval. Complete self and team timecards meeting Clerk and Recorder and Human Resources Payroll expectations. Open and close the office following protocol. Communicate updates via email and in person. Ensure staff completion of special projects. Manage incoming mail process. Train staff to meet expectations of office security and emergency situations. Demonstrate clear and effective communication: listening, confirming, clarifying, writing clearly, being concise, and moving conversations forward. Assist with Election implementation which may involve overtime hours. Model BCCR values and maintain open feedback and communication plan. Accountable for team success, decisions, and course corrections. Apply equity and inclusion and share observations, ideas, and improvements. Foster celebration and responsibility protocol. Build effective relationships with internal and external staff, the public, and vendors. Required Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent. Minimum of four (4) years of office experience. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Reliable transportation readily available for business use. Data entry skills. Knowledge of building a team. Critical decision‑making skills. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish and English. Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience. Experience with data entry and attention to detail.
