About the role

SoFi is seeking a Senior Staff, Fraud Strategy Analyst to assess, quantify, and mitigate fraud and operational risk associated with debit card authorization activity across SoFi's card ecosystem. This individual contributor will be responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, evaluating the effectiveness of risk controls, identifying areas of potential loss or exposure, developing risk mitigation strategies, and partnering across Fraud Strategy, Fraud Operations, Product, Engineering, Data, Disputes, Compliance, Risk, and vendor teams.

You will focus on debit card authorization risk across account takeover, wallet and tokenized transactions, 3DS, card-not-present, card-present, ATM activity, high-risk merchants, and override treatments. You will work closely with Fraud Strategy, Fraud Operations, Product, Engineering, Data, Disputes, Compliance, Risk, and vendor partners to move from insight to controlled execution.

What you’ll do

• Own fraud strategy analysis and recommendations for debit card authorization controls.
• Analyze transaction, alert, dispute, chargeback, rule, device, profile-change, wallet, 3DS, merchant, and loss data.
• Develop and optimize fraud rules, thresholds, treatments, exclusions, and monitoring plans.
• Evaluate rule effectiveness, false positives, customer friction, operational impact, and residual risk.
• Partner with platform and vendor teams to implement, validate, and monitor strategy changes.
• Document strategy decisions, rule logic, test results, governance approvals, and post-implementation outcomes.
• Build executive-ready recommendations that balance fraud loss reduction, member experience, operational feasibility, and governance requirements.
• Support durable reporting and control observability so leaders can understand fraud trends, rule health, and customer impact.

What you’ll need

• 12+ years of experience in fraud strategy, fraud analytics, card fraud, payments risk, financial crimes, or related risk analytics.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large transaction-level datasets.
• Experience analyzing rule, alert, transaction, dispute, fraud loss, or authorization data.
• Ability to evaluate fraud controls using quantitative performance metrics and qualitative risk judgment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive strategy work from analysis through implementation and monitoring.

Nice to have

• Debit card, credit card, payment authorization, or issuing processor experience.
• Experience with PRP, DataVisor, Snowflake, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Experience with ATO, wallet/tokenized fraud, 3DS, CNP, CP, ATM, merchant/MCC risk, scams, or dispute abuse.
• Experience in regulated financial services, including fraud governance, audit, SLOD, or compliance-facing documentation.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
