Come join our family!SummaryPerforms a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, repair, operation and maintenance of City facilities and properties. Supervision received: This position is supervised by the Operations Manager of Facilities. Supervision exercised: May act as a lead worker to part-time employees, volunteers, or temporary workers as required and assigned.Essential Function Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollows plans, instructions and standard operating procedures in performing maintenance, construction, and repairsParticipates in daily maintenance, such as cleaning, sweeping, and repairs of all department facilities.Performs interior and exterior building maintenance such as carpentry, drywall repair, stucco patching, painting, drywall patching, ceiling tile replacement, garbage and recycling removal.Routinely moves, disassembles, assembles and hauls furniture to and from city facilities. Assists in setting up offices as neededDrives truck hauling crews, equipment and materials to and from work sitesPerforms custodial work as required and assigned, including changing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, sweeping floors, vacuuming carpets, mopping, shampooing and steam clean carpets, buffing non-carpeted areas, dumping garbage and relining cans with liners, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies, emptying ash cans, cleaning spills, cleaning drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures, etc.., dusting furniture, washing windows, cleaning rain gutters and sweeping roofsUtilizes dollies, hand trucks and other small transport tools to maneuver, haul and relocate large heavy objectsOperates equipment such as concrete saw, table saw, handheld power tools, hand tools. etc.Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisorCleans equipmentPerforms duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standardsArranges for the transport of equipment and machinery across private property or public thorough fares as directedAnswers any complaints as directed by supervisorDocuments daily work actions and hours in work order softwarePerforms duties as assigned during emergency response conditionsPerforms other duties as requiredMinimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentPrevious experience in the field of construction, maintenance and repairAny related combination of training and experienceSpecial Qualifications/PreferencesValid Florida State driver's licenseCommercial Driver's License (CDL) Certification may be requiredBenefitsEligibility: Coverage in the City's group insurance plans begins the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment. Health Insurance: Choice of three (3) plans provided through Florida Blue. Long Term Disability : 60% of salary up to $5,000 monthly, provided at no cost Employee Assistance Program : Six (6) visits per calendar year, per issue, provided at no cost.
