What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations using standardized assessments as well as observational tools, catering to pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients.
- Create tailored treatment strategies to target short- and long-term communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs.
- Deliver personalized speech therapy, focusing on enhancing communication, language skills, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques.
- Engage collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members.
- Provide education for patients and family members to help facilitate speech and communication growth beyond therapy sessions.
- Participate occasionally in inpatient speech assessments and therapy sessions, ensuring a smooth continuum of care.
- Accurately document your findings and interventions to comply with state, federal, and institutional regulations.
- Continually update your skill set through professional development opportunities and ongoing education.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if certification from ASHA is pending.
Required Certifications
- Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
