About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: NY license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and IV placement is required. Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias. Experience with Rapid Response Teams and peripheral line care/management. Description: RNs are required to have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as IV placement. This is a required skill for all RNs in this position. The expected patient ratios are Day/Eve 5 to 1 (stretch 6-7) and Night 6-7 to 1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in). Patient Care Technicians are present on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living. First-timers are accepted for this position. It is essential to manage a variety of patient diagnoses including acute kidney injury, sepsis, COVID-19, alcohol withdrawal, altered mental status, and various infections. Travelers will need to float within scope to meet facility needs, but will not practice outside of their skill set. There is an expectation to accommodate block scheduling, but it is not guaranteed. Experience with computerized documentation, specifically Epic, is preferred. All RNs will be required to float between like units as needed. Special equipment utilized includes SCD pumps, Bear Huggers, wound vacs, and tube feeding pumps. Isolation precautions and the use of personal protective equipment are crucial for this role. RNs should possess skills in oxygen administration, including the use of nasal cannulas and portable oxygen tanks.
