This role requires a founder’s mindset as we build the Retail Solutions Engineering team to support Toast’s growth in this new vertical. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building processes alongside evolving products, and is energized by helping shape a new business line from the ground up. We are looking for a product and application expert who will become a part of the overall sales process with the objective to drive revenue. This role works cross-functionally with Sales and Product Management to ensure solutions are technically sound, scalable, and aligned to customer needs. As a Retail Solutions Engineer, you will be part of the founding team that is helping to revolutionize the way the retail industry does business by pairing technology with an unrivaled commitment to customer success. You will help retail operators streamline operations, increase revenue, and deliver amazing customer experiences through our platform that combines retail point of sale, customer-facing technology, and award-winning customer support. A day in the life (Responsibilities) Assist sales teams in presenting the Toast product and platform to prospects Become an expert in the product with complete knowledge of the technologies and the application software Learn to identify the prospect’s business challenges and whether to position the value of the Toast platform and/or the partner ecosystem as a solution Clearly communicate gaps in product/market fit to Product Management and Product Marketing teams Work closely with Sales Enablement to provide training and product expertise Attend trade shows and other events as a Toast brand ambassador Work closely with Product Management, Sales Enablement, and Marketing teams Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment What you'll need to thrive (Requirements) Minimum one year Toast experience A working POS knowledge Ability to handle complex customer communications fluently while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction Ability to work closely with Product Management Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to manage multiple customer implementations simultaneously working in a fast paced environment Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills Excellent communication and customer service skills What will help you standout (Nice to Haves/Non-Essential Skills) Retail industry, Retail SaaS sales, or related industry experience preferred A strong spirit and energy to provide the best support in the retail industry Detail oriented AI at Toast At Toast, one of our company values is that we're hungry to build and learn. #LI-DNI The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
