Emergency Medicine Faculty Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center & Wake Forest University School of Medicine Charlotte Shape the Future of Emergency Medicine The Department of Emergency Medicine at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Wake Forest University School of Medicine Charlotte invites applications from outstanding emergency physicians seeking a rewarding academic career in a department committed to excellence in patient care, education, research, and service. We seek collaborative, mission-driven physicians who are passionate about advancing the specialty of emergency medicine while making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients, learners, and communities. The successful candidate will join our faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor on a non-tenure-track appointment, with academic rank commensurate with experience and accomplishments. In 2027, we will open a new 95,000-square-foot emergency department that will provide unprecedented opportunities for clinical innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, learner engagement, and academic growth. Our department's vision is to lead and shape the future of emergency medicine, while our mission is to elevate and integrate clinical care, education, and research in service to our community for the betterment of our patients. Academic Opportunities Faculty members enjoy the opportunity to influence the development of future leaders in emergency medicine through engagement with a robust academic enterprise. Our educators mentor and teach residents, fellows, medical students, and international trainees while contributing to scholarly activity, curriculum development, and educational innovation. Our department sponsors fellowship programs in multiple disciplines, creating opportunities for collaboration across a broad range of academic interests, including EMS, ultrasound, toxicology, pediatric emergency medicine, operational medicine, disaster medicine, and global emergency medicine Clinical Practice Faculty members serve as leaders of multidisciplinary emergency care teams and practice in two of the region's premier emergency departments: Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Children's Hospital. Together, these academic, tertiary care Level I trauma centers care for more than 100,000 patients annually and provide exposure to the full spectrum of complex pathology and advanced emergency care. Qualifications Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree (or equivalent international degree), be board certified or board eligible in emergency medicine, and be eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina.
