Neonatology Practice Details
Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, ND, is seeking a BC/BE Neonatologist to join the region's largest team of board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists.
• The LARGEST (40+ bed) Level III Regional NICU in the state of North Dakota
• Team includes 6 neonatologists, 14 staff NNP/PA plus per diems
• 24/7 in-house coverage by NNP/PA
• Supported by AirMed transport services with helicopter and fixed wing covering the tri-state area
• Over 300 Pediatric and Neonatal transports annually
• Assist at the time of high-risk delivery and post-resuscitative care of the sick newborn
• Largest team of more than 65 board certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists in the region
• Sanford Medical Center houses an 8 bed PICU, with additional flex beds if needed. Floor shared with 24 bed pediatric unit, and 40-bed Level III NICU
• Sanford Health Fargo serves a large catchment area of 1.2 million throughout ND, MN and parts of SD and MT
• Joint appointment as clinical faculty with Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science teaching medical students & family medicine residents as well as an upcoming pediatric residency in 2024 Community Description

Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Core Privilege included in the ability to perform history and physical exams, admit (if applicable to setting), evaluate, diagnosis, and providing treatment or consultative service to newborns presenting with extremely complex and life-threatening problems such as severe prematurity, respiratory failure, shock, congenital abnormalities, hematologic, metabolic and neurologic derangements, and sepsis. Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree.
Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested:
An applicant who has just completed a fellowship provides his/her fellowship log.
OR
An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from the hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate they have cared for 50 neonatal patients in the last 12 months.
OR
If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant's clinical setting activity for the last 12 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate they have cared for 50 neonatal patients in the last 12 months.
More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes. Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Pediatric residency program and completion of a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
