Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist — Diagnostic Imaging Pro

Job Description Perform ultrasound exams for interpretation to aid in patient diagnosis. Utilize independent judgment in the application of non‑ionizing, high‑frequency ultrasonic waves for the diagnosis of disease. Collaborate with clinicians to ensure appropriateness of studies and perform related administrative tasks. Job Responsibilities Prepare patient for ultrasound exam; position patient on examination table according to departmental standard operating procedures. Explain procedures in layman’s terms to relieve patient of pre‑testing anxiety. Obtain pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports required for correlation with ultrasound exam being performed. Consult with referring physician regarding patient history to determine appropriate ultrasound exam required. Set up equipment to administer particular exam in a timely fashion. Use settings on machines to assure accurate results, using technical judgment. Perform ultrasound procedures and recognize significance of structures visualized in the oscilloscope and differentiate artifacts from normal or pathologic processes. Determine need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions. Observe patient during entire examination. Recognize and report any changes in patient’s condition and/or motor abnormality complaints by patient (e.g., fainting, discoloration) in accordance with procedures. Document image details and label study. Maintain records and logs of exams performed. Perform frequent calibration checks/adjustments on ultrasound equipment and troubleshoot mechanical problems as necessary. Perform related duties as required. One (1) of the following credentials required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) Registered Technologist in Sonography (R.T.(S)(ARRT)) Registered Technologist in Vascular Sonography (R.T.(VS)(ARRT)) 1–3 years of technical experience, required. General ultrasound experience, preferred. Vascular experience, preferred. Per diem role – weekend and overnight coverage; flexible schedule preferred.
