Job Summary

The 1:1 Classroom Aide is responsible for providing individualized support to promote the student’s academic, behavioral, social, and educational development. The 1:1 Aide works closely with the classroom teacher and school staff to support the student in accessing and participating in the general education curriculum and classroom activities. Responsibilities may include providing academic assistance, reinforcing classroom instruction, supporting appropriate behavior and social interactions, assisting with transitions and daily routines, and providing supervision as needed. The 1:1 Classroom Aide will provide support based on the individual needs and goals of the student, as prescribed by Wraparound Experts, the school principal, classroom teacher, and/or applicable student support plans. Academic support may include reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, organization, and completion of classroom assignments. The 1:1 Aide will encourage independence, promote positive engagement, and provide appropriate assistance while maintaining the student’s dignity and fostering a positive, productive, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

● High school diploma or equivalent, required; associate’s degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.

● Valid Ohio Department of Education License, required

OR

Valid Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide permit, required (WE could help a candidate obtain the Educational Aide permit if needed.)

● Valid driver’s license, required

● Pass and maintain clear FBI and BCI background check, required

● Previous successful experience working with children in a school or childcare setting is preferred.

● Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

● Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

● Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with children.

● Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and use sound judgment in all aspects of the job

Responsibilities

● Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities for the individual student

● Supervise student during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess, and transitions.

● Prepare classroom materials and resources as directed by the teacher.

● Support student with special learning needs under the guidance of the teacher, intervention specialists, and related services staff members.

● Reinforce classroom rules and behavioral expectations in accordance with school policies.

● Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and independence

● Assist in assessing student progress by recording observations and providing feedback to the teacher.

● Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, parents, and staff.

● Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

● Ability to move around the classroom and school campus as needed.
