The Machine Shop Supervisor leads a medium-sized team of 6 to 15 employees in a dynamic machining environment encompassing both conventional and CNC machinery. This role focuses on overseeing production schedules, ensuring optimal machining operations, and maintaining equipment to meet quality and efficiency standards. A key aspect of the position is fostering team development and implementing continuous process improvements within a lean manufacturing framework.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a machining team of 6 to 15 employees
- Oversee production scheduling using manual and lean manufacturing methods
- Supervise conventional and CNC machining operations to ensure quality and efficiency
- Maintain and coordinate preventive maintenance of equipment
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills
- Manage inventory to support production needs
- Identify and implement process improvements for operational excellence
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in machining operations
- Proficiency with CNC machining and programming
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and blueprint reading
- Familiarity with workplace safety standards
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Effective problem-solving and communication abilities
- Excellent time management skills
