About Apothecary: Beauty is one of the slowest industries to catch up on tech adoption and is the most ripe for disruption with a projected value of $430B by 2022, with skincare being the fastest growing segment. Consumers are spending tens of billions on skincare products and yet 87% are confused about which products will suit their unique needs and goals. Brands are not only struggling to personalize beauty discovery online, but are also confronted with a need to reinvent sampling at home in the wake of COVID-19.
Apothecary is a community-powered skincare discovery marketplace that serves as the matchmaker between consumers, influencers, and brands. We empower skincare content creators to capitalize on their influence while personalizing product recommendations for consumers and increasing exposure for brands. By introducing tech-enabled personalization and commercialized trial sampling, we're reinventing the the modern beauty retail experience.
Christine Hong, the Founder & CEO of Apothecary, started the company after years of struggling to find skincare products to care for her eczema and acne. She graduated from Harvard with a degree in Neurobiology.
About the Role: We're looking for a VP of Product with technical and managerial experience in product management and full-stack engineering in e-commerce and retail. There is an opportunity to grow into a co-founder role and lead product development and strategy at the earliest stages of a company's lifecycle.
Our team is four members strong with 15+ years of experience in tech and 25+ years of experience in dermatology. Our web app is built using Javascript, React.js, Redux with a Python, Flask, and FastAPI backend and connects to AWS S3, Elastic Beanstalk, Amplify, RDS, EC2.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee technical product roadmap and strategy. Road includes building out social commerce platform and integrating e-commerce and dropshipping capabilities.
Requirements: At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams in e-commerce and retail. Full stack development experience (Required: Javascript, React.js, Python; Nice to have: Redux, Flask, FastAPI). Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Former experience building personalized recommendation systems. Interest in skincare and empathy for user pain point is a huge plus.
