Air Products Membrane Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Product Design & Development who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys transforming ideas into real-world solutions, and is eager to contribute to the development of cutting-edge membrane technologies. If you are a creative problem-solver with a strong mechanical engineering foundation and a desire to make an impact, come grow with us as we develop the next generation of sustainable gas separation solutions and build a better tomorrow togetherThe successful candidate will work closely with Product Development, Quality, Procurement, and Operations teams to understand product requirements, manufacturing capabilities, costs, and lead times. This role also includes hands-on laboratory work, including setting up and performing mechanical tests, documenting and analyzing results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.**Position Responsibilities*** Apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles to design innovative pressure containment vessels and related products.* Understand machining and fabrication processes, including their capabilities and limitations, and incorporate manufacturability into designs.* Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings that advance product designs from concept through commercialization.* Maintain design documentation within SolidWorks PDM.* Organize and maintain the mechanical testing laboratory while conducting tests to validate product performance and mechanical integrity.* Document, analyze, and communicate test results through established reporting methods.* Design casting molds and components that integrate with existing manufacturing processes and equipment.* Collaborate closely with plant engineering and manufacturing teams to support seamless implementation of new products.* Develop test plans and coordinate prototype manufacturing activities.* Participate in hands-on laboratory testing, data collection, and troubleshooting activities.* Work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations personnel to deliver practical and innovative solutions.* Support a culture of safety by maintaining laboratory safety standards and best practices.**Qualifications*** Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).* 1+ years of experience in product design, equipment design, or mechanical engineering utilizing SolidWorks.* Experience creating CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.* Experience working in a laboratory or testing environment, including test setup, data collection, and interpretation of results.* SolidWorks certifications and Design for Six Sigma experience are considered strong assets.* Understanding of manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or product development processes.* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.* Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across diverse cultures and organizational levels.* Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.* Willingness to travel domestically as required.**What's In It for You:**At Air Products we foster a culture of inclusion where every voice is heard, and everyone feels they belong and matter.
