Registered Nurse (RN) - Intermediate Care Unit

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intermediate Care Unit. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a step-down unit, focusing on critical care patients who require specialized monitoring and support.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 19
• Staffing:
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN & 6 RNs
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN & 6 RNs
• Patient Ratios: 3:1
• Equipment Used:
  • Bedside Monitors
  • Alaris IV Pumps
  • Heated Humidity High Flow O2
  • Bipap
  • Chest Tubes
  • Tracheostomy Care
  • Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
  • Gastric Tubes
  • Surgical Drains
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: EPIC

Qualifications

• Required Experience:
  • 1 year of experience in a step-down ICU, IMC, or PCU
  • 1 year of telemetry or cardiac monitoring experience
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience managing tracheostomy patients requiring continuous BiPAP or long-term ventilator support
  • Experience with titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitroglycerin, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone
  • Experience performing CIWA assessments and treatment for alcohol/drug withdrawal
• Typical Procedures:
  • Emergent cardioversion
  • Moderate sedation procedures performed in a designated area

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification

Work Schedule

• Every other weekend required, with a total of 4 weekend shifts per month
• Delayed start may be utilized when patient census is low

Dress Code

Scrubs in navy blue are required for all staff members.

Additional Policies

• Physical assessments, intake, and output must be documented every 4 hours
• Hourly safety rounds are mandatory
• Positioning and activities of daily living (ADLs) every two hours, as indicated
• Mandatory bedside handoff communication during shift changes
