Licensed Practical Nurse

Location: Belmont Correctional Institute, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Full-time, union OCSEA. Compensation: $60,000 annually. Schedule: Full-time. Primary job skill: Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as directed.
• Documents patient‑related care timely within the electronic health record.
• Maintains patient medical records.
• Administers medication, including oral, intramuscular, and intravenous (when certified).
• Performs treatments and assists with doctor’s sick call.
• Assists with chronic care clinics management.
• Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities.
• Responds to emergencies, providing emergency care and collecting patient data.
• Collects vital signs and documents findings.
• Collects urine and other body fluid specimens and may perform venipuncture.
• Prepares patients for release and/or transfer.
• Ensures discharge medication orders are forwarded to pharmacy.
• Participates in work‑related training and institutional training exercises.
• Assists other healthcare staff.
• Investigates and documents problem areas or concerns.
• Reviews shift reports from preceding shifts.
• Assists physicians with medical procedures.
• Assumes duties of other nurses during absences.
• Observes and documents nursing support for assistive personnel.
• Provides patient education regarding health maintenance and disease prevention.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
• Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Performs inventory and ordering of medical supplies.
• Assists ancillary staff such as health information technicians and medical schedulers.
• Works overtime as required.

Qualifications

• License to practice nursing as an LPN issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
• MDS certification issued by ANNAC.
• Proficiency in nursing, basic medical procedures, direct support, medical charting, and medication management.
• Strong communication, cultural awareness, problem‑solving, customer focus, teamwork, and confidentiality skills.
