Legal Billing Specialist

Job Description Job Description Full job description We are seeking a legal assistant, paralegal, or legal secretary to join our Dallas law firm and support attorney billing and time review. This role is ideal for: Law firm billing coordinators or billing specialists Paralegals Legal assistants Legal secretaries This is not a traditional accounting role . It is designed for legal support professionals with law firm experience who are interested in transitioning into legal billing and timekeeping, as well as experienced legal billing professionals. In this role, you will work closely with attorneys and legal staff to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely billing in a fast-paced law firm environment. Responsibilities: Prepare and distribute monthly prebills to assigned attorneys Maintain and track monthly prebill status; follow up to ensure timely completion Review, edit, and finalize prebills in collaboration with timekeepers Edit invoices to ensure compliance with client billing guidelines and litigation management requirements Identify non-compliant time entries and work directly with timekeepers to revise narratives as needed Upload invoices to various electronic billing platforms Analyze billing reductions, denials, and rejections from clients Draft well-supported appeals of billing reductions Submit appeals through e-billing platforms and monitor outcomes Track recurring reduction trends and proactively address compliance issues Research and respond to billing-related inquiries and resolve billing issues Maintain organized documentation of billing adjustments and appeals Assist with month-end billing deadlines and reporting Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned Requirements: Prior experience in a law firm as a billing coordinator, billing specialist, legal assistant, paralegal, or legal secretary Strong knowledge of legal terminology and litigation workflows Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and the Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow instructions thoroughly Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet strict billing deadlines Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff Dependable with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality Experience with electronic billing systems (e.g., CounselLink, TyMetrix, or similar platforms) Familiarity with LEDES billing formats This position offers an opportunity to leverage your legal background while developing expertise in attorney billing, timekeeping, and client guideline compliance within a collaborative law firm environment.
