What You'll Do

• Provide acute care to adult patients in a newly established Medical-Surgical/telemetry unit
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including those with sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia
• Administer medications, including pain management and IV therapies
• Perform wound care, including JP drains, wound vacs, and hemodialysis catheter care
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR system
• Float across various Med/Surg units as needed, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in acute care (ER, MedSurg)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
• Strong wound management skills, IV placement, and pain management experience
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

About the Assignment

This is a new and expanding Medical-Surgical/telemetry unit designed to provide excellent patient care and educational opportunities. The unit features a patient ratio of 1:5-6 during nights, with in-house multidisciplinary support including hospitalists, RT, OT, PT, and ST. The facility values teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning—perfect for nurses looking to grow their skills in a dynamic environment.

• You will work every other weekend and participate in 2-3 holidays during the assignment
• Scrub color: Pewter; shirts (gray, white, black), jackets (gray or black)
• Must wear badges above the waist at all times

• No on-call required, and scheduling allows for some time off with proper approval
