Location: Washington, D.C. Metro Area
Employment: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire
Pay: $29.00–$35.00 per hour
Overtime: Eligible
Travel: Up to 80%, including overnight travel

Quest International is seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to support customers throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area and beyond. You’ll work directly with electro-mechanical equipment, diagnose technical problems, perform repairs and preventive maintenance, and help keep customer equipment operating reliably.

This is a field-based technical service position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, traveling, and interacting directly with customers.

You’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical skills across electronics, mechanical systems, diagnostic equipment, Windows-based technology, and customer-site service.

What You’ll Do

As a Field Service Technician, you’ll be responsible for the hands-on service and support of equipment at customer locations.

Troubleshoot & Repair

Diagnose electro-mechanical equipment failures and identify the actual source of the problem using technical documentation, test equipment, and systematic troubleshooting.

Perform Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and respond to equipment failures to help minimize downtime and maintain reliable operation.

Repair to the Component and FRU Level

Replace and verify failed components such as:

• Circuit boards

• Modules

• Power supplies

• Wiring and connectors

• Sensors

• Motors

• Field Replaceable Units (FRUs)

• Other electrical or mechanical components

Use Diagnostic Equipment

Use digital multimeters and other professional diagnostic/test equipment to measure electrical conditions, isolate failures, and verify repairs.

Support Customers in the Field

Travel to customer locations, communicate professionally with customer personnel, provide updates regarding service activity, and represent Quest International in a professional manner.

Document Your Work

Complete accurate service reports, work documentation, repair records, and required customer paperwork.

Manage a Field Schedule

Work independently while adapting to changing service assignments, customer needs, travel requirements, and scheduling priorities.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who has actually worked on equipment and is comfortable opening systems, testing components, diagnosing failures, and completing repairs.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 1 year of professional hands-on experience in field service, equipment repair, electronics, maintenance, automotive diagnostics, medical equipment, or another electro-mechanical environment.

• Professional experience using a digital multimeter for troubleshooting.

• Experience independently diagnosing equipment problems and replacing failed components.

• Ability to read and follow technical manuals, diagrams, SOPs, work instructions, and service procedures.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Reliable personal vehicle.

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 80%, including overnight travel .

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds .

• Comfortable working independently at customer locations.

• Working knowledge of Windows 10/11.

• Basic networking knowledge, including:

  • ping

  • ipconfig

  • tracert

  • DHCP

  • Static IP addressing

  • DNS

  • Remote Desktop

• Willingness to complete the required Human Performance Test as part of the pre-employment process.

Successful technicians in this role are able to:

• Troubleshoot systematically instead of relying only on parts replacement.

• Use diagnostic tools to identify the source of an equipment failure.

• Work independently without constant supervision.

• Complete repairs accurately and safely.

• Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams.

• Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation.

• Adapt to changing schedules and customer priorities.

• Manage frequent travel and overnight assignments.

• Take ownership of a service call from diagnosis through resolution.

Travel & Work Environment

This is a field-based position , not a work-from-home or traditional IT/help-desk role.

The position requires travel to customer sites throughout the assigned territory and may include travel outside the immediate Washington, D.C. metro area.

Travel may reach up to 80% and can include overnight stays.

Technicians should be comfortable working independently at customer locations and adjusting to changing service schedules.

Compensation

$24.00–$29.00 per hour , based on experience and qualifications.

This position is overtime eligible .
