Position Title Dietitian About the Opportunity The Dietitian is responsible and accountable to provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to the patient/client, family, and community. The Dietitian advises on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors. Responsibilities Provide leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, including the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process. Participate in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students. Apply an evidence-informed approach to practice. Collaborate with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services within a holistic, client-centered framework. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized university. Completion of a Dietetic Internship Program. Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics (NSRD). Minimum one year of working experience as a dietitian (preferred). Inpatient clinical nutrition experience (asset). Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition. Experience counselling patients. Current WHMIS (asset). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under time pressure. Continuous education and skills upgrading. Autonomous and collaborative work as part of an interprofessional healthcare team. Competencies in other languages (asset). Hours Permanent part-time position; 37.5 hours biweekly. Hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Compensation & Advantages $37.27 - $51.62 hourly.
