Operations Specialist - Trade Processing (Physical Settlements)

POSITION SUMMARY The Operations Specialist-Physical Settlements is directly responsible for specialized functions within Trade Processing, including the processing and settling of physical security trades. This would include activities such trade settlement, re-registration, DTC deposits, Client communication, and reconciliation. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Process Transactions * Process all physical security deliver and receive orders settling with other brokers and banks. * Verify securities for negotiability at the time of receipt * Interact with Transfer Agents relating to the re-registration of physical securities that are held by BBH * Manage daily volume. * Problem Resolution * Review and resolve discrepancies in order information received (for example CUSIP difference and or restrictions). * Escalate problem items as appropriate. * Communications * Communicate professionally and constructively via email, phone, etc. with internal and external clients and counterparties and Transfer Agents to effectively resolve issues in order to minimize risk and exposure. * Provide superior client service. * Communicate as part of a team. * Contribute to Management Reporting. This may include providing statistics on work volumes. * Process Improvement * Gain efficiencies to improve individual productivity. * Gain an understanding of the big picture - how specific function impacts the firm. * Contribute to Division or Firm process improvement activities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience. * Demonstrated PC skills. * Ability to identify, escalate and resolve a problem. * Ability to communicate professionally through effective verbal and written skills. * Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively. * Organizational skills and detail oriented. * Ability to multi-task. * Ability to work in a team environment. * Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Salary Range New York: $50,000 - $60,000 + annual performance bonus BBH and its affiliates' compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations.
