The Assistant Taproom Manager supports the Taproom Manager in leading daily taproom operations, developing team members, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role serves as a key leader on the floor, acting as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts and ensuring consistent execution of Volition Brewing's hospitality, service, and operational standards.

The ideal candidate is a hospitality-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys coaching others, and is passionate about creating memorable experiences for guests and staff alike.

Core Responsibilities

Hospitality & Guest Experience

·       Lead by example to create a welcoming, engaging, and memorable guest experience.

·       Serve as the primary escalation point for guest concerns during assigned shifts.

·       Coach Beertenders on hospitality, product knowledge, and service standards.

·       Ensure taproom ambiance, cleanliness, music, and presentation align with the Volition brand.

·       Monitor guest feedback and assist in implementing service improvements.

·       Support execution of secret shopper and guest experience initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

·       Assist with onboarding and training new team members.

·       Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development to Beertenders.

·       Reinforce company policies, procedures, and service standards.

·       Support team communication and maintain a positive, accountable workplace culture.

·       Assist the Taproom Manager with performance conversations and staff development plans.

Taproom Operations

·       Serve as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts.

·       Oversee opening, closing, and shift transition procedures.

·       Ensure POS accuracy, menu updates, and pricing changes are implemented correctly.

·       Assist with weekly inventory counts for beer, merchandise, and supplies.

·       Monitor stock levels and communicate inventory needs to the Taproom Manager.

·       Maintain compliance records, permits, and required documentation.

·       Ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational standards are consistently met.

·       Support cash handling procedures, deposits, and reporting as assigned.

·       Crowler Machine Maintenances

·       Merchandise Wall Restocking

·       Food Truck Management

Events & Community Engagement

·       Support execution of taproom events, club meetings, and special releases.

·       Coordinate staff and operational needs during events.

·       Ensure guests receive a consistent, high-quality experience during high-volume and special-event periods.

·       Represent the Volition brand positively within the local community.

Communication & Collaboration

·       Partner closely with the Taproom Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.

·       Communicate operational issues, staffing concerns, and guest feedback promptly.

·       Collaborate with brewery leadership to support company initiatives and events.

·       Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

Required

·       2+ years of hospitality, restaurant, brewery, or taproom leadership experience.

·       Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

·       Experience coaching and motivating team members.

·       Experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures.

·       Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

·       Current Washington State MAST Permit and Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Preferred

·       Craft beer, brewery, or taproom experience.

·       Experience with Square POS.

·       Inventory management and event coordination experience.
