Accounting Coordinator Department: Finance and Operations

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations - CSBO

FLSA Status: Exempt

School District is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Accounting Coordinator to support our Finance and Operations team. In this role, you will oversee financial activities, maintain robust internal controls, and help ensure our school district’s resources are efficiently managed and properly safeguarded to support our educational mission

What We’re Looking For

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university, OR 1-2 years of related accounting/financial experience and training, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Technical Skills:
  
  
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software (Microsoft Excel/Word, Google Sheets/Docs).
    
    
  • Familiarity with accounting systems, databases, and payroll software (experience with Skyward systems and Gmail/Google Workspace is a plus).
    
    
• Core Competencies:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting financial data and collaborating across departments.

salary: $34 - $38.5 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 4 PM

Responsibilities

As the Accounting Coordinator, you will oversee key daily accounting workflows, ensure compliance with GAAP and district policies, and serve as a financial resource to administrators and district personnel.

• Process & Workflow Supervision: Oversee financial services and accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and attendance accounting to ensure GAAP compliance and accuracy.

• Budget & Financial Monitoring: Assist in annual budget preparation. Monitor assigned program funds, fund balances, expenses, and revenues to ensure adherence to budgetary limits.

• Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard district assets. Maintain up-to-date fiscal files, records, and audit trails.

• Data & Reporting: Compile and process fiscal data across district payroll, fixed assets, expenditures, and records for analysis and reporting.

• Problem Resolution & Research: Investigate and resolve accounts payable discrepancies, financial documentation issues, and routine fiscal inquiries from district personnel.

• Stakeholder Support: Provide clear guidance to staff regarding fiscal procedures, program requirements, and guidelines to support informed decision-making
