CPI/Outreach Advocate/Lakeland/1669 MI This is a required Advocate/Spanish speaking bi-lingual position. This position provides services to primary & secondary victims of sexual assault age 12 and above. Provides telephone (hotline crisis calls and office calls), hospital callouts (support during a forensic exam, sharing of information and referrals, assist participants with filing for Victim Crime Compensation claims) accompaniment to court, and Law Enforcement interviews. Provides ongoing counseling helping victims recover from their trauma. Facilitates and/or participates in providing support groups as well as attending community events to share information on awareness and prevention of sexual assault. Responsible for a minimum of 6 outreach events per quarter, including one on a college campus, quarterly contact with local hospitals, health departments, and other community providers. Quarterly contact with local law enforcement offices, and the States Attorney's office to enhance system co-ordination among multiple agencies. Responsible for maintaining client records and inputting information into the computer data systems. The ability to be on-call two weeks per month. Maintain and annually update a resource manual with referral information. Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor for business necessity. A.A. Degree preferred. High school diploma/ G.E.D. Previous volunteer work or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience:
At least two years working with sexual assault victims, women's issues and/or other mental health issues. Relevant degree may be substituted for experience. Bi-lingual: Fluent in Spanish, both written and verbal skills are necessary. Must be able to communicate with clients as well as translate documents. Certifications: None Training:
Other annual training courses as required by PRC, FCADV & FCASV. Knowledge and Skills: Bi-lingual required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software package. Ability to self-motivate and self-start Excellent motivation skills to work with volunteers, community partners and victims' service team Demonstrated teambuilding skills. Demonstrated planning skills. History of regular work attendance. Demonstrate the ability to lift 25 lbs. Working knowledge of community resources, especially in areas of housing, training and employment. Leadership potential Trauma counseling skills Safety Equipment Universal Precautions Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations Life Safety Equipment (fire extinguisher) Transportation: Must have reliable transportation. If driving personal vehicle for job duties: Must be over 21 with a FL driver's license and clean driving record. Must carry & maintain $25,000/$50,000 bodily injury coverage on personal vehicle and provide proof of coverage annually. If driving a PRC vehicle: Must be 25+ years of age with an FL driver's license and clean driving record. Technology Requirement: As an employee of Peace River Center, if you are not assigned a company-issued phone, you will be required to authorize the use of the Microsoft Authenticator app on your personal mobile device. This is necessary to access our payroll and communication system, Paycor, and Microsoft email as examples. This will ensure secure and efficient communication with the organization Machines, Tool and Equipment Used: Computer, fax, copier, multi-line telephones, cellular telephone, video/overhead equipment, DVD's Supervisory Relationship(s) This position reports to the RRP Program Manager. Meets with supervisor bi-weekly for individual supervision to discuss/manage program needs and evaluate any training needs or issues of professional staff or participants. Work Environment: The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.

- Participates in related task forces & outside agency activities as directed by Supervisor.
- Provides information & referral services to primary, secondary victims and the public
- Provides supportive counseling to sexual assault survivors & secondary victims.
- Plans and facilitates support groups as necessary
- Facilitates and/or participates in community awareness presentations/events to educate and to identify potential victims of crimes.
- Maintain clients' records
- Must learn, understand, and carry out all Victim Services Program Procedures.
- Know, understand, and respect participants' rights.
- Conduct initial and ongoing safety planning with participants.
- Inform participants of Crime Victim's Compensation Assistance and complete paperwork as applicable.
- Attend all scheduled work hours, meetings, training, and other center functions, including on-call as required.
- This position may be assigned additional "position duties" by a supervisor, other than those listed as consistent with business necessity. On-going assigned duties will be added in the form of an addendum to this job description.
