Human Resources Generalist

The Windham Public Schools is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Human Resources Generalist who is bilingual in English and Spanish. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing complex human resources duties and coordinating projects in the following functional areas: onboarding/offboarding, employee relations and retention, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, policy implementation, and employment law compliance. Essentials functions include serving as the single-point-of-contact contact providing human resources support and service to an assigned group of schools and/or central office, managing onboarding and orientation processes, compiling and monitoring workforce data, assisting employees with interpreting human resources forms, regulations, policies and guidelines, managing FMLA and Worker's Compensation processes, analyzing data and using strategies to continuously improve the employee experience and increase retention, maintaining employee files and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local policies/laws, collaborating with administrators on staffing needs, proactively consulting with HR Director while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of generalist role, interpreting HR related data and developing appropriate initiatives or strategies in response, supporting off-boarding process and all exit procedures, leading aspects of hiring process including, but not limited to drafting job descriptions, posting positions, developing offer letters, auditing human resources data and information to ensure union contractual and regulatory compliance, analyzing and interpreting policies, law changes, and procedures to support the development and documenting of HR procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting departmental leadership on additional projects as necessary.

Skills, knowledge, and capacities include strong communication skills in both English and Spanish, demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with district personnel, strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills, skill in the use of industry-related specialized software (i.e. Frontline, MUNIS, Kronos), as well as the Microsoft Office Suite, demonstrated cultural competency as it relates to serving in a diverse work environment, knowledge of FMLA and Workers' Compensation laws and processes, and experience working in a union environment, preferred.

Qualifications include Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years in related field.
