Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Salary: $70,000–$90,000 annually

About the Opportunity

PQ Talent is partnering with an established manufacturer of specialized mobile equipment to identify a motivated Electrical Design Engineer for its Indianapolis-area operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to develop their technical expertise while working on real-world equipment used in demanding industrial applications.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineering professionals to support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of electrical systems used in heavy industrial and mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for machinery and mobile equipment.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Support the selection and integration of electrical components, sensors, controls, and related equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure successful equipment integration.
• Assist with troubleshooting electrical systems during equipment assembly, testing, and commissioning.
• Support improvements to existing equipment designs to enhance reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
• Maintain accurate engineering drawings, bills of materials, and design documentation.
• Participate in engineering reviews and contribute to new product development initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance to production and service teams as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
• 0–3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Understanding of electrical circuits, components, and engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with electrical design software or CAD applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred:

• Experience with electrical systems used in industrial machinery, heavy equipment, or mobile equipment.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design tools.
• Exposure to PLCs, control systems, sensors, or industrial automation.
• Understanding of 12V/24V DC electrical systems.
• Experience with wiring harness design or electrical component integration.
• Previous internship or hands-on experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
