Fleet Diesel Mechanic

Diesel Technician IIAs a Diesel Technician II, you'll perform basic to mid-range diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and most repairs and replacements.Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:Troubleshooting / Maintenance / Repair & Replacement:Performs basic to mid-range diagnostics and troubleshootingPerforms basic to advanced weldingPerforms most repairs, preventative maintenance, and replacements in assigned classificationUsually works alone on repair ordersPerforms some trainingPerforms preventative and predictive repair maintenance as assignedAssists in advanced welding, brake repair / overhaul, steering / alignment; repairs / adjusts clutchesTroubleshoots / repairs electrical systems, engine operations, trans / differential operations, air conditioning operation, cooling systems, exhaust systems, fuel systems, and basic diagnosticsPerforms state inspectionsPerforms Diesel Tech I dutiesThe responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations.Qualifications & Key Requirements:Work Experience:High school diploma or equivalent2+ years of experience as a mechanicA high skilled level of welding (preferred)Current Texas CDLDOT certifiedAir conditioning certifiedKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:A high skilled level of welding (preferred)Strong working knowledge of all safety requirements for shop equipment and machinery, including electrical devicesFamiliarity with 2010 and newer emissionsAbility to perform intermediate repairsAbility to read schematic diagramsAbility to diagnose / repair electrical shorts, air brake systems, cooling systems, and some engine problemsLicenses/Certifications:Meet H-E-B driving qualificationsRequired Physical Demands & Working Conditions:Work in a team environmentLift 100 lbs and carry a distance of 5 ftWork sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and in a prone positionWork with hands over headClimb; work from a ladderComplete TMT trainingMeet H-E-B driving qualificationsPossess / maintain Tech II-level toolsObtain diesel engine overhead certificationObtain / maintain OEM certification in brakes, suspension, electrical, welding, TIA, and drive trainThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Partner encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
