Job Title: Composite Technician II

Job Description

Two day shift (5am-1:30pm) Composite Techs needed. Pay will be based on experience but typically between $44-$46 an hour with overtime available.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Composite Technician II to work in a brand-new aerospace manufacturing facility in Santa Ana, CA. You will perform a wide range of hands-on composite plying, layup, fabrication, and assembly tasks, primarily using pre-preg materials such as Kevlar, carbon fiber, and fiberglass. A Technician Level III or higher will provide oversight and guidance as you contribute to critical aerospace components in a fast-growing environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work instructions and work orders to understand job requirements and production steps.
• Prepare and maintain mold surfaces to ensure proper part quality and adherence to specifications.
• Perform composite material kitting, including organizing and preparing materials for layup.
• Carry out lamination of pre-preg composite materials, including Kevlar, carbon fiber, and fiberglass, following established processes and quality standards.
• Assemble molds and tooling to produce conforming composite structures.
• Perform vacuum bagging operations on small to medium composite structures, ensuring proper sealing and vacuum integrity.
• Complete trimming operations using fixtures and various hand tools to achieve close tolerances and precise dimensions.
• Read and interpret basic engineering blueprints and drawings to guide fabrication and assembly activities.
• Use laser-guided systems to perform accurate ply placement during layup.
• Maintain high levels of cleanliness in the work area to protect parts from foreign materials and contamination.
• Organize and track multiple parts and components throughout the manufacturing process.
• Follow safety procedures and handle machinery and equipment with care to maintain a safe working environment.
• Support aerospace programs by producing high-quality composite components in alignment with program requirements.

Essential Skills

• Proven hands-on experience with composite layup, plying, fabrication, and assembly, particularly using pre-preg materials.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, work orders, and basic engineering blueprints or drawings.
• Experience working with composite materials such as Kevlar, carbon fiber, and fiberglass.
• Proficiency in performing vacuum bagging operations on small to medium composite structures.
• Skill in using fixtures and various hand tools to complete trimming operations to close tolerances.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical assembly processes.
• Strong inspection and quality control mindset to identify and address defects or inconsistencies in parts and materials.
• High attention to detail to ensure accurate placement and orientation of multiple composite plies.
• Good hand dexterity and coordination to perform precise finger movements and hand layup techniques.
• Strong organizational skills to keep track of various parts and components throughout the process.
• Commitment to cleanliness and ability to maintain a clean workspace to protect parts from contamination.
• Safety-focused approach with an understanding of the importance of proper care and operation of machinery and equipment.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance as required by assigned programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with laser-guided ply placement systems.
• Experience in working on flight control components such as rudders or elevons is beneficial.
• Experience reading and working from aerospace blueprints and specifications.
• Prior exposure to structured quality control processes in a regulated industry.

This is a Permanent position based out of Santa Ana, CA.

The pay range for this position is $91520.00 - $95680.00/yr.
