Heat Treat OperatorOrange - QAF - Orange, CA 92867OverviewSalary Range $19.30 - $24.30 Hourly Position Type Full Time Education Level HS Diploma or GED Category ManufacturingDescriptionJOB SUMMARYPrimary responsibility is to operate QAF's thermal processing equipment including heat treat and ageing furnaces, quench tanks, data recording devices, hardness and conductivity measuring tools, and forklifts.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (But not limited to the following)Thermal Processing Set furnace temperatures per work order instructionsMonitor heat up time and soak times ensuring adherence to work order instructionsRack parts as needed to optimize load size, adhering to acceptable part handling processesLoad furnaces for optimal efficiency while maintaining part traceabilityDetermine end of cycle times and shut down cycles and remove parts accordinglyPerform the quench process when applicable and per work order instructionsImmediately report over or under runs, out of temps, and any other non-conformances to qualityHardness & Conductivity Readings Perform hardness checks when required by the work order per testing proceduresPerform conductivity readings when required by the work order per testing proceduresRecord results for hardness and conductivity per the requirements of QAF documentationReport non-conformances as required per QAF SOPsQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum 1 year experience in thermal processing of metals, aluminum a plusAbility to perform basic math functions and read standard inspection measuring devicesForging industry experience a plusSPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTSAbility to learn to use and become certified in hardness and conductivity reading toolsExperience using a forklift and to pass QAF's certification courseFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systemsGood communication skills with all levels of a manufacturing organizationLANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze and interpret work orders, procedures, and specifications in English.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
