Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 08/24/2026 Duration: 12 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing high-quality care in a mixed-acuity environment, supporting patients with trauma post-surgical, MVA, elective surgeries, and other complex conditions. The RN will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. Job Details: Location: Louisville, KY Shift Time: Nights (7:00 PM 7:30 AM), with a clock-in at 6:53 PM and mandatory presence for huddle at 7:00 PM Schedule: 12 hours shift, minimum of 48 hours per week Required Qualifications: 2 years of nursing experience, current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification Skills required: Blood administration, skeletal traction, bucks traction, drains, Jackson-Pratt (JP) drain management, wound dressings, wound vac management, high-flow oxygen therapy, stable BiPAP management Patient Ratios: RN: 1:5, CNA: 2 per shift, with one clerical staff during the day Float: Float to mixed acuity only if required Orientation: 24 hours clinical orientation, including 1 twelve-hour shift at the end of week one and another at the start of week two Support within the Department: CNA, receptionist, charge nurse, lab responsibilities, vascular access team, resource teams (Sepsis and Rapid Response), Vascular Access team, and 24/7 specialist, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Technology/Equipment: Cerner electronic medical record (EMR), Plum ICU Medical IV pumps, Phillips monitors, sera steady, Arjo lifts, Kangaroo pump, sapphire pump for PCA (patient-controlled analgesia) Other notes: Scrub color is Galaxy Blue; onsite parking available; team-oriented culture focused on delivering compassionate, patient-centered care Benefits The benefits of taking a travel assignment with Cross Country include: Private housing or generous housing allowance Comprehensive health insurance with prescription coverage Dependent health insurance with prescription coverage Competitive salaries Referral bonuses Travel reimbursement 401(k) retirement plan Direct deposit/free checking Unlimited free CE credits Posted Date: 2026-08-03 Cross Country Job ID 1282416.
