Plasma Center Nurse - LPN

Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE). Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results. Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in standard operating procedures, following applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents. Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate-level recognized educational nursing program with state requirements. Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned (LPN or LVN). Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification. Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy (in state of licensure). Satisfactorily complete the FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
