Credit Officer

the client is seeking a Credit Officer for a role in the Rockford, IL area. In this position, you will lead and manage credit analysis and administration teams, including recruitment, development, compensation, and performance management, while helping drive strong credit outcomes and effective risk governance. Key responsibilities include developing department financial goals related to credit quality, volume, and risk distribution; recommending loan structure, terms, risk ratings, and pricing; and presenting loan recommendations to internal approval committees. You will collaborate with credit analysts and commercial lenders to ensure loan presentation consistency, implement and monitor credit policies and procedures, and ensure adherence to credit criteria, information guidelines, underwriting requirements, and portfolio performance expectations. You will prepare and distribute reports on loan quality, growth trends, and product concentration, review real estate data to assess portfolio impact, and delegate assignments to balance workloads and meet customer expectations. The role also involves representing the bank in communications with regulators and external parties such as external loan review and auditors, participating in relevant bank committees, and meeting qualifications including a bachelor’s degree, 10+ years of commercial banking, 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, experience in credit administration and risk mitigation with direct credit approval, and supervisory experience across commercial real estate, construction, and commercial and industrial lending.
