Position Overview The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as a Quarterly Census of Employment & Wage s Analyst. The QCEW program is a Federal-State data cooperative charged with the collection, verification, and publication of a quarterly count of employment and wages for more than 95% of U.S. jobs, providing a vital benchmark for other Illinois and federal programs. Responsibilities include the analysis, interpretation, review and coding of worksite records, univariate statistical analysis on data variances , and correct ion of erroneous data based on telephone follow-up with employers and other best practices . This position provides a great opportunity for someone who has a strong knowledge of statistical techniques and is dedicated to determining the validity and accuracy of data. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience performing statistical analysis of data variances and resolving data inaccuracies in accordance with federal reporting requirements . Essential Functions Under direct supervision, serves as a Quarterly Census of Employment & Wage s (QCEW) Analyst for the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) Assistsindeterminingthe accuracyand validityof reported employment and wage information, including but not limited to industry,areaand auxiliary status codes, tomeetU.S.Bureau of Labor Statistics(BLS)reportingrequirements, including but not limited toMultiple Worksite Report (MWR)requirements Analyzes and interprets private and government employer information, classifying information by geographic area and type of business activity Confers with supervisor todetermine assignment of coding and data input duties Establishes andmaintainsrecordson worksite employersfordataincludingbut not limited toemployment and wages,area and industry codes for each worksite Keeps abreast of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Quarterly Census of Employment & Wages (QCEW) program policies,requirementsand best practices Performs other duties asrequiredor assigned which arereasonably withinthe scope of the dutiesenumerated above Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics and related fields Conditions of Employment Requiresan Illinois State Police background check and self-disclosure of any criminal history Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays asappropriate This position is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a)).
