About the Role:

\n

\n

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Reference Data Tech Lead with 8+ years of professional software engineering experience to design, architect, and enhance enterprise reference data platforms supporting investment-management and front-office workflows.

\n

\n

This is an individual contributor role with technical leadership scope, focused on security master and organization static data master platforms across public and private equity, credit, and derivative instruments. The successful candidate will remain hands-on while driving architecture, data pipelines, server-side services, integration patterns, and engineering standards.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate brings deep C#/.NET and Python experience, strong data modeling and data engineering skills, and expertise with microservices, messaging platforms, API gateways, caching technologies, and multiple database paradigms including relational and graph or object databases.

\n

\n

The role requires strong domain fluency in securities and reference data, particularly credit instruments—and a cloud-first, AI-first engineering mindset. The engineer will partner closely with business analysts, Portfolio Management, technology teams, and business users to build strategic, robust, and performant reference data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n

\n
• Serve as technical lead in an individual contributor capacity for enterprise reference data systems, including security master platforms spanning public and private equity, credit, derivative instruments, and organization static data.
\n
• Own key systems design and architecture decisions across the reference data stack, including service boundaries, caching strategy, data flows, communication channels, and system integration patterns.
\n
• Design and build server-side services using C#/.NET and Python, including microservices, messaging-based integrations, API gateways, and scalable middle-tier/backend components.
\n
• Design and build data engineering pipelines covering ingestion, transformation, augmentation, cleansing, validation, and governance to support golden-record and cross-reference logic.
\n
• Design and optimize reference data models for securities and organization static data, balancing normalization, performance, governance, and downstream consumption requirements.
\n
• Select and apply appropriate database technologies across relational, graph, and object stores, including golden-record resolution and hierarchy/relationship modeling such as issuer-to-security and legal-entity structures.
\n
• Partner with business analysts, PMs, developers, and business users to translate reference data requirements into strategic, robust, and performant technical solutions.
\n
• Apply AI-first engineering tools, including agentic coding assistants and LLMs, to accelerate delivery, automate data-quality controls, and improve entity-resolution processes.
\n
• Establish and promote effective software engineering standards covering architecture, code quality, testing, documentation, deployment, and production reliability.
\n
• Remain hands-on in the codebase while providing technical direction, solving complex engineering problems, and collaborating across globally distributed teams.
\n
• Support production reference data platforms and take ownership of diagnosing and resolving complex data, integration, and application issues.
\n
• Participate in production support and take ownership of resolving data and application issues.

Required Skills and Experience:

\n

\n

\n
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial hands-on experience building enterprise data and server-side platforms.
\n
• Proven experience architecting and/or building reference data systems, specifically security master and/or organization static data master platforms.
\n
• Strong hands-on development experience in C#/.NET and Python, with the ability to design and deliver production-quality services and data-processing components.
\n
• Deep server-side engineering experience with microservices architecture, messaging platforms, API gateways, caching technologies, and distributed system integration patterns.
\n
• Strong data engineering capabilities, including pipeline design, ingestion, transformation, cleansing, augmentation, validation, governance, and database-level development.
\n
• Strong data modeling expertise with experience designing reference data structures that balance normalization, performance, governance, and downstream consumption needs.
\n
• Experience working across multiple database technologies, including relational databases plus at least one of graph or object databases.
\n
• Experience designing golden-record, cross-reference, hierarchy, and relationship models for securities, issuers, legal entities, or comparable master-data domains.
\n
• Working domain knowledge of securities and investment data, with particularly strong understanding of credit instruments such as loans, bonds, CLOs, or similar products.
\n
• Experience working within asset management, investment management, capital markets, or a similarly data-intensive financial services environment.
\n
• Experience with cloud-based engineering environments; Azure and related technologies are strongly relevant to the target environment.
\n
• Demonstrated cloud-first and AI-first engineering mindset, including practical use of agentic coding tools, LLMs, or AI-assisted development technologies.
\n
• Track record operating as a technical lead in an individual contributor capacity, including architecture ownership, technical decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration rather than people management.
\n
• Strong delivery ownership with the ability to remain hands-on while setting technical direction and engineering standards.
\n
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with business analysts, developers, PMs, and business users.
\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n

\n
• Experience with security identifiers such as CUSIP, ISIN, SEDOL, and FIGI, including identifier mapping and cross-reference processes.
\n
• Experience supporting corporate actions processing and its impact on security master or reference data platforms.
\n
• Private credit, private equity, alternative asset, or broader private-markets data experience.
\n
• Hands-on experience with Azure and modern cloud data platforms or warehouses such as Snowflake.
\n
• Experience with graph databases and complex hierarchy or relationship modeling for issuers, securities, organizations, or legal entities.
\n
• Background in entity resolution, golden-record matching, data-quality automation, or AI-powered data-quality tooling.
\n
• Experience building or supporting messaging-driven or event-driven reference data architectures.
\n
• Experience in establishing engineering standards and modern development practices within complex enterprise data platforms.

Compensation:

\n

\n

**The base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $190,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.**
