Assembler - Finishing

3rd Shift Assembler

This role focuses on assembling and finishing large sheet metal enclosures by accurately measuring, fitting, and securing components to create high-quality finished products. You will work with sheet metal pieces, hand and power tools, and basic welding to support the production process in a busy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Measure and position sheet metal pieces, typically 1015 feet in length, accurately into place according to blueprints and shop drawings.
• Perform small tack welds to temporarily secure components until welders complete final welds on the product.
• Button, bolt, and glue various components and hardware onto the final product to ensure a secure and accurate assembly.
• Add components and accessories to metal enclosures as specified in drawings and work instructions.
• Touch up paint on finished products to correct minor imperfections and ensure a clean, professional appearance.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to cut, fasten, and assemble parts as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings to understand dimensions, layouts, and assembly requirements.
• Inspect assembled components for accuracy, alignment, and quality, and make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Collaborate with team members, including welders and other assemblers, to meet production goals and deadlines.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how components fit and function together.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools in an assembly or similar environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Comfort working with sheet metal components and large assemblies.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and high-quality finished products.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Assembly experience in a manufacturing or construction-related environment.
• Construction experience, especially framing, is a plus.
• Trade school education or certifications in welding or construction are preferred.
• Basic welding experience, particularly tack welding, is beneficial.
• Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.

Work Environment

You will work in a busy manufacturing facility with over 100 employees, where collaboration and teamwork are part of daily operations. The environment is not climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. You will work around sheet metal, welding operations, hand and power tools, and other typical manufacturing equipment, following safety procedures and wearing appropriate protective gear as required.

This is a contract position based out of BATAVIA, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
