Facility Information Licensed for 457 beds Level 3 Trauma Center Stroke Center of Excellence Bariatric Center of Excellence Chest Pain Center Radius Rule: Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles outside the home unit Department Information Average census: 51 patients daily Minimum experience required: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience First-time travelers: Accepted Patient Types and Common Diagnoses Chronic diseases, CHF specialty area, mental health, addiction services for patients requiring 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, COPD, diabetes mellitus, wounds, geriatric care Licenses and Certifications Required BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Patient Ratios RN to patient ratio: 1:4-6 depending on acuity; surge times may increase ratio to 1:7-8 Required Skills General Med/Tele skillset including: Cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) Care of patients with tubes and drains IV start skills Administration of blood products Wound care and dressing changes Department Support Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, Staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, House Supervisor Technology and Equipment EMR System: EPIC Department-specific equipment includes: Scales GBS machine Transfer devices Vein finder EKG Crash cart Language interpreter services Telemedicine cart for online patient assessments Doppler Floating Requirements Floating within the region and scope of practice is required. Floating to all facilities within the region as needed is mandatory; candidates not agreeable should decline. Region 1 includes: Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (including main and pediatric facilities). Floating may occur to any facility within this region. If floating mid-shift, travel time between facilities will be compensated and remain on the clock.
