Research Coordinator- Part Time

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator—Part Time. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating research studies conducted at the Medical Center, assisting with recruitment, enrollment, grant submissions, data collection, and study coordination activities. The coordinator will perform intra‑operative monitoring and serve as liaison with internal and external funding agencies. The coordinator ensures accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, and other obligations to patients/subjects, Principal Investigator, Research Team and sponsor. Interfaces directly with patients/subjects and Principal Investigator in support of clinical trials, if applicable. Establishes liaisons with relevant parties at the Medical Center—including Research Nurses, Research Pharmacists, Program Managers, Medical Technicians, Clinical Information Systems, and Regulatory Services. May assist in initiating and managing research studies and works under general direction. Job Responsibilities Grants: Prepare and submit grant applications and related documents, collect and organize paperwork, follow up and coordinate resolution of all issues, and report to sponsors to fund medical research. Human Subjects’ Research: Oversee submission of necessary documents to the NYU Institutional Review Board, NYU Office of Clinical Trials and other parties; keep records updated; prepare and audit monthly enrollment statistics. Study Regulations: Keep up‑to‑date regulatory documents, assist with informed consent process, follow up with patients/subjects about visits and compliance, monitor safety issues and report to Principal Investigator, Physician, and Research Nurse. Data Management: Collect and audit patient information; abstract data from charts, laboratory or diagnostic test results, treatments, adverse reactions; manage data in the database; prepare forms, reports, statistics, and other materials; conduct study visits and document information within specified time frame. Budget: Draft preliminary budget and submit to Director/Principal Investigator; review sponsor‑proposed budget, recommend changes, and assist in preparing funding reports; identify potential sponsors; monitor budget throughout the trial. Decision Making and Problem Solving: Evaluate information to make decisions, resolve complex situations, and refer unsolved issues to supervisor. Recruitment: Screen potential patients/subjects for eligibility; gather information from records, physician referral, advertisements; schedule visits; review inclusion/exclusion criteria and informed consent with Principal Investigator. Clinical Competency: Perform EKG, phlebotomy, centrifuge, specimen handling, storage, and shipping; complete required training and certification. Continuous Learning: Pursue ongoing continuing education in research development; maintain CEU requirements and serve as a resource to peers. Reporting and Analysis: Compile and analyze data for sponsors and regulatory agencies; provide progress reports; formulate databases and generate preliminary measurement reports; complete assessments on study subjects following protocol. Manuscript Preparation: Participate in preparation and submission of manuscripts. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration, or related field. Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet applications. Effective oral, written, interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment and independently. Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration. Ability to operate research‑related equipment. Ability to work and make decisions independently. Time‑management skills and ability to multitask. Problem‑solving ability, remaining effective under pressure. Preferred Qualifications Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Certification (required in some disciplines). Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other compensation.
