Research Coordinator- Part Time

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator – Part Time. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating research studies conducted at the Medical Center, assisting with recruitment, enrollment, grant submissions, research data collection, and study coordination activities. The coordinator will perform intra-operative monitoring and serve as liaison with internal and external funding agencies. They will ensure the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, HIPAA, and required obligations to patients/subjects, Principal Investigators, research teams, and sponsors. The coordinator will interface directly with patients/subjects and Principal Investigators in support of clinical trials, establish liaisons with relevant parties at the Medical Center—including research nurses, pharmacists, program managers, medical technicians, clinical information systems, and regulatory services—and may assist in the initiation and management of research studies. Work is performed under general direction. Job Responsibilities Grants – prepares and submits grant applications and related documents, collects and organizes required paperwork, follows up on issues, and reports to sponsors. Human Subjects' Research – oversees submission of documents required by the NYU Institutional Review Board, the Office of Clinical Trials, and other parties; prepares audit and enrollment statistics, and provides necessary information in a timely manner. Study Regulations – maintains up-to-date regulatory documents, assists with informed consent, follows up with patients/subjects regarding visits and compliance, monitors safety, and reports concerns to Principal Investigators, physicians, and research nurses. Data Management – collects, audits, and abstracts patient information for research projects; manages data transfer to the database; prepares reports, compiles and analyzes data, and documents study visits. Budget – develops preliminary draft budgets, reviews sponsor‑proposed budgets, assists in preparing funding reports, and helps identify new sponsors. Decision Making and Problem Solving – evaluates information to make decisions, resolves complex situations, and escalates unresolved issues to supervisors. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required. Recruitment – screens patients/subjects for eligibility, gathers information, schedules visits, and reviews screening elements with Principal Investigators. Clinical Competency – demonstrates competency in ECG, phlebotomy, centrifuge, specimen handling and shipping, and completes required training and certification. Continuous Learning – engages in ongoing continuing education, maintains CEU requirements, and serves as a resource to peers. Reporting and Analysis – compiles data, conducts preliminary analyses, prepares reports for sponsors and regulators, and follows through on protocol‑defined assessments. Manuscript Preparation – participates in manuscript preparation and submission. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration, or related field. Minimum two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with internet applications. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interface with all levels of management and communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration. Ability to operate research‑related equipment. Ability to work and make decisions independently. Time‑management skills and ability to multitask. Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems and work well under pressure. Preferred Qualifications Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Certification (preferred; required in some disciplines). Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Experience working in an Academic Medical Center. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
