Sullivan Eastern, Inc. is a well-established heavy civil construction company seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join our team in our Morrisville office.

The selected candidate will work directly alongside our Payroll Manager, gaining hands-on experience in payroll and accounting functions while developing a broader understanding of the company's financial operations, with the opportunity to grow into an Assistant Controller/Controller role in the future.

Position Summary

The Construction Accountant will support the company's day-to-day accounting and payroll functions, including weekly payroll processing, accounts receivable and accounts payable entry, bank reconciliations, certified payroll reporting, closing activities, and financial report preparation.

This position requires exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
• Set up new employees in the payroll system
• Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable entry
• Assist with bank reconciliations and other related accounting tasks
• Assist with the closing process and preparation of financial reports
• Prepare Certified Payroll Reports
• Maintain accurate payroll records
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee payroll-related questions
• Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and company requirements
• Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations
• Support additional accounting functions as needed
• Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, payroll, and financial information

QualificationsRequired

• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
• Experience processing weekly payroll
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• High level of professionalism and confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word

Preferred

• Experience working in the construction industry
• Experience with Sage 100 Contractor software
• Experience preparing Certified Payroll Reports
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a huge plus, but not required
