SpecificResponsibilities Compton College Farmers' Market (Wednesdaysfrom 12-8:30 PM) Leadsregulationand complianceincluding but not limited to: EnforceFood AccessLArulesandotherpertinentRegional,State,andFederal lawsandregulations(Direct Marketing, California Retail Food Code, etc.) Communicate market policies, activities, and rules to all vendors Resolve emergencies, complaints, and requests from vendors,customersand community partners Assistwith proper vendor placement in stalls Oversees market staff with the following market day tasks: Physicalset-upandtake-downof market DistributeLoadLists, market memos,andother marketcorrespondencetomarketvendors Maintainmarketsupplyinventory Maintain,organizeandtidyupthemarketstoragespace Operate information booth Sell marketand Food Access LAmerchandise periodically Assurethat themarketsiteiscleanoncethemarket isclosedandvendorshaveleft Facilitates effective market administration: Effectivelyfacilitatesvendorcheck out Updatesocial media (Instagram feedandstories,Facebook,Twitter) with relevant market news,vendorupdates, seasonal finds, etc. Providesupport forspecialeventssuchas fooddemonstrations,culturalcelebrations,book signings, etc. Organizeandmaintainweekly market supplies Office(2.5weekdays, including Tuesdays) Manage weekly market accounting and reconciling: Processall load lists from thepreviousmarket day. Reconcileandsubmitall formsofpayment includingcash,check,EBT, Market Match,and WIC. Complete weekly marketdaysalesand redemption reports. Organizeand replenishEBT / Market Match supplies. Communicate with vendors and market stakeholdersregardingmarket policies, activities, and rules. Maintain vendor files and other administrative tasks as needed. Work withRegionalManager,South LAto secure all necessary permits for operation of aCertifiedFarmers' Market. Collaborate withstateand federalagencies toensurevendorcomplianceas needed. Developdigitalandprintpromotional materials. Promote the farmers' market within thecommunity, includingpresentations toschools, localbusinesses,churches,andothercommunity-based organizations. Coordinatecommunityevents tobeheldat the marketsuchasbooksignings, fooddemos, etc. Interface withcommunity leaders,electedofficials,andcommunity stakeholders. Organizeandattend farm,kitchenandstudiovisitsas needed. Participate inFood Access LAFarmers' MarketOperationsand otherFood AccessLA initiatives: Attend regular meetings including,butnot limited to: Weeklysupervision meetings withRegionalManager,South LA RegionalFarmers' Market Team Meetings every other week MonthlyFood AccessLAstaffand Farmers' Market Operationsteammeetings Other meetings and trainings asrequired Cover for other Food Access LA Farmers' Markets, based on availability Participate in internal workinggroupsandothercollaborativeactivitiesas time permits FundraiseonbehalfofFood AccessLA

REQUIREDSKILLSANDEXPERIENCE:

A minimumof three (3)yearsof relevantprofessional experience. A workingknowledgeofbasicbusinessand food retailoperations,experience working with small-businessowners,and/orpastexperienceowning asmall business. Experience withexecutingcommunicationsandcommunityoutreach strategies. Experience managing multiple tasksand working withcompeting deadlines. Can work independently,organizedanddetail-oriented. Workingknowledgeof Microsoft Office,Zoom,Social Mediaappsandother technology platforms. Mustbeable to workthe assigned market dayThursdays (Central), Friday (Echo Park,Saturdays (Crenshaw), Sundays (Hollywood or Atwater)

DESIREDSKILLSANDEXPERIENCE:

Experience working incommunity foodsystemsespecially those within themarket community. Experience workingat aCertifiedFarmers' Market (vendor, management,staff,etc) Experience working withunderserved, low-incomecommunities withawarenessand integrity. Knowledgeofstandardsandcomplianceandotherprotocolrelated to theDepartmentof Agriculture, DepartmentofPublicHealthandother local,stateand federal agencies. Able to readand write inEnglishand Spanish.

PHYSICALDEMANDANDWORKENVIRONMENT

Whileperformingthedutiesofthisjob,theemployeeisregularlyrequiredtostand,sit;talk,hear,andusehandsandfingerstooperateacomputerandtelephonekeyboard,reach,stoop,andkneeltoinstallcomputerequipment.Mostworkwilltakeplaceindoors,butsomeworkwilltakeplaceoutsideinrainy,hot,orcoldweatherconditions.
