About the Role

• We are seeking an experienced Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead maintenance, engineering, facilities, and capital improvement initiatives within a highly automated automotive seating manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting new program launches, and driving continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

• The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in automotive manufacturing, expertise in maintenance and engineering operations, and a proven track record of improving equipment effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Reliability Leadership

• Lead maintenance operations for production equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
• Develop and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Maximize equipment uptime to support customer production schedules and just-in-time manufacturing requirements.
• Oversee troubleshooting and repair of automated manufacturing systems, robotics, conveyors, PLC-controlled equipment, welding systems, and material handling equipment.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
• Manage maintenance staffing, workforce planning, training, and employee development initiatives.

Manufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
• Optimize workstation design, plant layouts, material flow, ergonomics, labor utilization, and production processes.
• Perform time studies and establish labor and equipment standards.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
• Analyze manufacturing performance data and identify opportunities for waste reduction and productivity improvements.
• Support new product launches, engineering changes, and production readiness activities.

Capital Projects & Equipment Management

• Lead capital projects from concept development through installation, validation, and production launch.
• Evaluate, specify, purchase, and implement manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation systems.
• Prepare capital expenditure justifications and project proposals.
• Partner with suppliers, contractors, and engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Oversee equipment installations, facility expansions, and plant modifications.

Facilities & Infrastructure Management

• Manage maintenance and improvement of plant facilities, utilities, HVAC systems, compressed air systems, electrical distribution systems, and environmental equipment.
• Coordinate facility renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and expansion projects.
• Improve facility layouts and production-area functionality to support operational goals.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, customer requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Lead equipment-related quality improvements and error-proofing initiatives.
• Promote a strong safety culture through risk assessments, machine guarding improvements, and maintenance safety programs.
• Support customer, internal, and third-party audits.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.

Budget & Team Leadership

• Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for maintenance and engineering functions.
• Monitor maintenance expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance purchasing activities.
• Lead and mentor maintenance, engineering, and technical teams.
• Establish departmental goals aligned with overall plant objectives.
• Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and employee development planning.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous improvement-focused culture.
• Partner with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Corporate Engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of engineering and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance and engineering teams.
• Automotive manufacturing experience required.
• Strong experience with:
• Robotics and industrial automation
• PLC programming and troubleshooting
• Welding systems and technologies
• Conveyor and material handling systems
• Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Industrial electrical systems
• Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
• Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
• Lean Manufacturing methodologies
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar engineering/design software.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within automotive seating manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting OEM customers such as GM, Ford, Stellantis, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, or Hyundai/Kia.
• Knowledge of:
• Seat frame assembly
• Robotic welding
• Foam pad manufacturing
• Trim cover cutting and sewing
• Seat assembly operations
• Headrest manufacturing
• Final seat testing and validation
• Just-In-Time (JIT) and Just-In-Sequence (JIS) manufacturing
• Automated material handling systems
• OEM launch and program management
