School Nutrition Coordinator

School Nutrition Coordinator Reports To: Director of School Nutrition Job Objectives (Purpose of the position): To assist the Director of School Nutrition in the supervision, assessment, planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the food and nutrition service operation in the schools. To supervise all aspects of the program in the absence of the Director of School Nutrition. Essential Job Functions (Functions essential to attaining job objectives): Strategic Goal Area I Student Achievement Ensure all students have an opportunity to receive a healthy meal Coordinate with managers as they provide nutrition education materials enabling the schools to educate the students Coordinate with the System Leadership Team to provide assistance with school wide initiatives for the current year Strategic Goal Area II Stakeholder Engagement & Loyalty Guide and work with principals and managers in implementing the program in accordance with local, state and federal requirements. Strategic Goal Area III Efficient and Effective Organizational Processes Review USDA Free and Reduced Verification Substitute for the School Nutrition Manager when the manager is absent for two (2) or more days, or at the Director’s request Assist managers with staffing, quality food preparation, production records and meal costs Possess a basic understanding of computer operations and demonstrate basic computer skills Assist managers with the transfer and replacement of equipment Assist managers in developing and/or improving work schedules in each kitchen Conduct taste testing to evaluate food items to ensure acceptability and that they meet bid specifications Plan and provide for in-house catering Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Director of School Nutrition Strategic Goal Area IV Continuous System and School Improvement Assist with adherence to the local, state and federal policies and regulations Conduct/assist with mandated accountability review for each school Review purchased and USDA inventories and other monthly reports Interpret reports to managers to help them operate the program more efficiently Conduct Orientation and Training-In-Depth (TID) courses as needed With the Director, evaluate the job performance of the school nutrition managers Attend and/or conduct Manager’s Meetings, In-Service Training and other training required by the Director Provide on-site training and technical assistance to managers and food assistants Develop and implement new programs and assist in the introduction of new products to increase participation in the school nutrition operation Processes applicants for substituting in the school nutrition program Other Expectations Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance /timeliness Complete assignments and requirements on time and in compliance with directions Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and file reports promptly Maintain confidentiality of information and records for students and staff Job Standards (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions): Bachelor’s degree in a related field Five (5) years experience as a school nutrition manager, public school experience preferred School Nutrition Association (SNA) certified Completion of the required Training-In-Depth courses Training Skills for Managers course is preferred Working knowledge of school nutrition equipment Ability to work harmoniously with others Ability to avert potential problems and be flexible Job Location (Place(s) where work is performed): Operations Center Equipment (Machines, devices, tools, etc., used in job performance): Current Technology and Specialized Resources Critical Skills/Expertise (Needed for this job specifically): Communication skills - written and verbal Organizational skills FLSA: Exempt Name of Evaluation Instrument for this job description: Carroll County Leadership Annual Evaluation or Leader Keys #J-18808-Ljbffr Carroll County Schools
