About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor required. License: Active nursing license required. Certifications: BLS & ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler experience preferred unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience. Skilled in cardiac telemetry, management of dysrhythmias, and post-cardiac procedures. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation. Ratios vary per acuity, with 1:4 for surgical step-down patients and 1:5-6 for lower acuity. Flexibility is required for weekend shifts, with a minimum of 4 weekends per 4-week period. Candidates must be open to floating within or near the facility as needed. Staff may be assigned to respond during catastrophic events or disasters. Patient diagnoses include atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, and other cardiac conditions. Special procedures in this unit include CABG, AVR, MVR, and various cardiac and thoracic surgeries. Candidates must possess skills in managing cardiac drips, dysrhythmia interpretation, and non-invasive airway management. Additional preferred skills include arterial line management and wound care experience. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 41 patients with a total of 44 beds available. Interdisciplinary support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must successfully pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. All candidates will be interviewed as part of the selection process.
