Empower young learners with your expertise as a Reading Specialist in a supportive, onsite elementary environment. This full-time, contract opportunity serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade and ensures continuity for the entire school year until June 10, 2027. There are two openings available for passionate educators who thrive in an urban setting and are committed to student success.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid and active PA certification/licensure
- Reading Specialist certification required
- Proven school-based experience, ideally in urban districts
- Mastery of instructional content and classroom management
- Skilled in differentiation, formative assessments, and aligning lesson plans to state/district standards
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans to drive literacy instruction
- Strong behavioral management skills and the ability to foster a positive, productive learning environment
- Experience in K-8 and elementary settings strongly preferred
- Comfortable working onsite and familiar with the local district
- Completion of all PA clearances is mandatory
- Reliable transportation to and from the school site
- Willingness to participate in Zoom interviews as part of the hiring process
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality literacy instruction for elementary-aged students
- Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect current standards and address diverse learner needs
- Use data from formative assessments to guide classroom practice and differentiation
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive school community
- Maintain accurate records and support students as they build foundational reading skills
