Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) for Inpatient Rehabilitation in an acute care/skilled nursing setting provides specialized therapy services to patients recovering from illness or injury. The OT plans and implements individualized treatment programs to improve patients' functional abilities and quality of life. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and adherence to clinical guidelines are essential. This role requires at least one year of experience, current BLS and NBCOT certification, and a valid Alaska OT license.

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine therapy needs and goals.
Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans for inpatient rehabilitation patients.
Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to improve patients' functional independence.
Document patient progress and maintain accurate clinical records using Epic charting system.
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
Adhere to facility policies, clinical protocols, and safety standards.
Participate in unit coverage primarily on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays as needed.
Provide weekend coverage approximately 2 days per month.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.
Active Alaska Occupational Therapist license.
Minimum of 1 year of occupational therapy experience.
Ability to perform therapy duties in an acute care or skilled nursing environment.
Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically Epic.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in an acute hospital or inpatient rehabilitation setting.
Familiarity with Magnet facility standards and Level II trauma protocols.

Special Considerations:

No on-call responsibilities.
Must work approximately 2 weekend days per month.
Shift options include 4x10 or 5x8 day shifts; 4x10 schedule may not consistently guarantee 3 consecutive days off.
Time off requests (RTO) are approved individually and must be submitted with application.
Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted.
Parking is free; scrubs are provided.

Scheduling:

Day shift work with options for four 10-hour shifts per week or five 8-hour shifts per week.
Scheduling prioritizes coverage on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
