Senior Software Engineer – AppDev (AI-Fluent Senior) Role Snapshot Uptown Client Title: Senior Software Engineer, AppDev (AI-Fluent Senior) Location: Charlotte, NC Work model: On-site, 3days/week Team: Product engineering for an automated decision platform Seniority target: 7+ years Role Intent Senior hands‑on engineer who delivers complex backend work and leads by technical influence. Must be personally strong with AI‑assisted engineering workflows. Not a formal AI‑transformation charter role, but expected to model strong AI‑enabled execution and share practical patterns. What The Engineer Will Do Own medium‑to‑large initiatives across services/components. Lead architecture and implementation trade‑offs in Java/Spring Boot systems. Improve software quality through code review, testing discipline, and maintainability practices. Contribute to production support, incident diagnosis, and reliability improvements. Partner with product, implementation, and QA teams for smooth delivery. AI-Fluency Expectations Uses AI coding tools daily in practical delivery workflows. Applies AI across implementation, test creation, debugging, and documentation. Critically evaluates AI outputs for correctness and security before shipping. Shares effective usage patterns through pairing, code review, and team collaboration. Must-Have Candidate Profile 7+ years of software engineering experience. Strong Java backend and Spring Boot delivery depth. Experience with REST APIs, SQL/data modeling, CI/CD, and automated testing. Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring in senior IC roles. Strong communication and cross‑team collaboration. Demonstrated, real‑world AI‑assisted engineering fluency. Nice-to-Have Background Cloud-native operations exposure (AWS preferred).
