Assistant Director, Outreach & Recruitment Position Summary: The Assistant Director (AD), Outreach & Recruitment is a key role on the year‑round director team. The AD is responsible for camper recruitment and retention, marketing and communications, and coordination of community‑facing programs such as Educational Outreach, Family Camps, and the Parent Ambassador Program. Working closely with the Executive Director, the AD provides leadership and support in the administrative oversight of summer camp preparations, organizational operations, and program evaluation. Compensation $71,000–$75,000 Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of camper recruitment: develop new opportunities, build community partnerships, organize and staff recruitment events, coordinate the Educational Outreach program, manage the Parent Ambassador Program, and respond to parent inquiries. Coordinate marketing and communications: produce promotional materials, newsletters, brochures, social media content, and general summer communications; respond to inquiries in coordination with the Executive Director. Plan and execute Family Camps and Day Camps: work with youth leadership to develop program schedules and counselor training; ensure successful administration of these programs. Manage summer camp planning and administration: mentor senior youth leadership, support logistics and administration, administer ACA standards and other safety practices, and collaborate with the Camp Wellbeing Team to support counselors. Work Conditions During the school year: hybrid (remote/in‑person) in Los Angeles, with occasional travel to California cities; flexibility for residents of the Bay Area or Southern California. During the summer: must live at camp in Big Bear, in a high‑altitude, physically demanding outdoor environment. Flexible to work irregular hours, including frequent weekend hours. Physical and emotional capacity to act swiftly and appropriately in a crisis or emergency. Requirements Minimum 3–5 years of experience with youth programs and/or camps in a day or overnight setting, ideally supervising high‑school and college‑age staff. Experience in outreach, recruitment, marketing, or community partnerships in a camp, youth organization, or Jewish communal setting. Experience in recruitment and project management, understanding camp programming and family engagement strategies. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including social media, newsletters, or other digital communications. Ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision on time‑sensitive projects. Strong customer‑service orientation and warm, responsive communication with camp families. Commitment to youth leadership and mentorship; patience to lead meaningful leadership development processes. Safety‑oriented mindset and knowledge of best practices in the camping field. Personal connection, experience, or willingness to learn about progressive Jewish communities and social justice work in the U.S. and Israel/Palestine. Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Driver's license required; owning a car strongly preferred. Proficiency in Google Drive, Microsoft Excel, and Word; familiarity with databases, camp registration systems, donor management systems, or QuickBooks is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
