Business Analyst – Department of Defense Maintenance Location: Anywhere USA, VA 22314 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Salary: $120,000 – $139,000 Shift: Day Category: Information Technology The Business Analyst is an exempt, customer‑facing business professional responsible for shaping and optimizing enterprise‑level Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) strategies. The role supports DoD MRO objectives and USAF readiness goals by translating complex operational needs into actionable technical requirements. This position demands deep expertise in eliciting, documenting, and validating requirements within depot maintenance environments. Responsibilities Lead a cross‑functional team that transforms maintenance data into predictive decision‑support tools. Define, manage, and document all project requirements and user stories. Engage directly with stakeholders and function as the primary liaison between IT and end users. Drive user acceptance testing activities and support PMO in analytics coordination, WBS management, and documentation. Serve as a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work independently while collaborating across functional teams. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field. 7+ years of business analysis experience. Business Analysis certification or certificate. Demonstrated expertise in requirements management and documentation. Direct experience with DoD maintenance systems. Ability to define complex requirements for technical solutions. Advanced knowledge of requirements engineering methodologies. Experience eliciting requirements from diverse stakeholder groups. Track record of successful user acceptance testing implementation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with requirements management tools. Ability to operate effectively in remote/hybrid team environments. Current NACI certification or ability to obtain. Additional Qualities (WOW Factors) IIBA certification. Experience with USAF maintenance systems. Knowledge of depot maintenance workflows and processes. Understanding of data science, analytics, or machine learning concepts. Experience with CMMI or structured requirements methodologies. Background in process modeling and optimization. Experience with visualization tools for requirements presentation. Track record of requirements management in agile development environments. Understanding of natural language processing for maintenance data. Experience with predictive analytics or decision support systems. Track record of coaching organizations through agile transformations. Experience integrating agile with earned value management requirements. Experience working with the US Air Force Sustainment Center or US Air Force Research Laboratory.
