Sr. Data Engineer

Data Science & Statistical Computing Position Location: United States (SF local preferred) Contract Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension Group: Data Science & Statistical Computing, gRED Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or an equivalent field. Minimum 6 years of technical experience in software development. Advanced R programming skills. Software development experience in R and experience delivering professional software. Familiarity with bioinformatics, next generation sequencing, and genomic data analysis & data visualization. Strong code debugging and troubleshooting skills. Experience working with collaborative software development using Git, GitHub, and Kanban boards. Experience working with REST API’s, complex data structures, and data platforms. Experience with developing CI/CD pipelines. Creative thinking for solving complex engineering challenges. Ability to present work both verbally and in writing, in a clear manner to diverse audiences including users, technical colleagues, and management. Responsibilities Work on an innovative team that provides an interactive genomic data analysis environment with a large stakeholder base. Influence design, strategy and implementation of new software features. Maintain and extend an R package that interfaces departmental analytics tools with commercial software. Integrate new genomic data analysis methods into an interactive analysis software. Build out capabilities for supporting new next generation sequencing data modalities. Maintain integrations between front-end software and back-end systems. Collaborate closely with the support team regarding complex user issues that involve Required Skills: Advanced R, Git or GitHub and experience with Rest APIs. Basic Qualification: Must have a background or experience with Bioinformatics, Biostatstics, Genomics or similar life sciences experience. An educational background should be sufficient, doesn't have to be work experience.
