The Facilities Department seeks a Grounds Care Worker to support the maintenance and beautification of campus facilities and grounds. An essential function of the position requires exertion of up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects (e.g., lifting equipment, pushing grounds equipment, removing snow). The job may also require constant or frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Successful candidates must be able to read and comprehend written directions and follow verbal communications and directives. Responsibilities Expedite and ensure quality standards for cleaning, maintenance, and beautification of campus facilities and grounds Inspect and maintain facility equipment Mow, rake, irrigate lawns; plant, transplant, spray, and trim flowers, shrubs, and small trees; apply pesticides and fertilizers Determine appropriate times to cut and edge grass, trim bushes and trees, fertilize grass, trees, and shrubs Assist in the repair and maintenance of the sprinkler system, including digging ditches and trenches Perform minor maintenance on equipment Remove ice and snow from sidewalks, parking lot, and grounds using hand tools, shovels, and small bladed vehicles Operate manual tools and equipment, including tractors, plows, lifts, mowers, trimmers, edgers, and other grounds care equipment Move furniture and perform other duties as assigned Work with co‑workers, employees, and the general public to accomplish daily tasks Use a computer to complete work orders, timesheets, leave requests, and other documentation Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers Qualifications One (1) year of grounds care/landscaping experience (or equivalent experience, prorated if part‑time) Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles and equipment independently Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check, including a motor‑vehicle report (MVR) Must meet residency requirement: applicant must be a resident of Colorado at the time of application Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly; ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and reach as described Equal Opportunity Employer The Colorado Community College System believes that when all human qualities are regarded with dignity and respect and when everyone has access to the individualized support they need, all will have the opportunity to thrive.
